Purchasing/Inventory Specialist

FT/PT Status:Full Time
Schedule:Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
  

Job Responsibilities:
  • Process cutlists and prepare job picklists and production materials for multiple departments.
  • Collaborate with IT Programming, Drafting and Cutlist to continuously improve BOM accuracy and materials optimization.
  • Review inventory job picklist requirements to determine if inventory on hand is sufficient for what the job requires.
  • Analyze inventory levels and report opportunities to reduce on-hand inventory.
  • Create purchase orders for shop supplies, stocked inventory, or other materials as required.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing with suppliers
  • Communicate glass rejections to vendors and order remakes.
  • Find ways to reduce shipping costs by identifying ways to optimize inventory replenishment.
  • Analyze inventory levels and report opportunities to reduce on-hand inventory.
  • Continuously request and update safety data sheets for purchased materials.
  • Suggest changes to optimize the current purchasing/inventory processes.
  • As workload dictates, help to balance workload within the department by assisting with these functions:
    • Deliver pulled parts to related departments
    • Store received items in proper inventory location, which also includes transporting materials to proper storage locations via mobile equipment
    • Assist with cycle counting and physical inventory.

Job Qualifications:
  • Ideal candidates will have 3 – 5 years of related experience in a role that handles Inventory and/or BOM (bill of material) functions; however, candidates with 2 years of related experience, with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, will also be considered.
  • Candidates must have strong math skills and computer skills.
  • Since this position requires interaction with various departments and competing priorities, a “can do” attitude is necessary.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
